Mario Ćulum
Associate professor
Mario Ćulum was born in Banja Luka. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Dramaturgy under the mentorship of Dr. Maja Volk at the Academy of Arts in Banjaluka. He wrote the libretto adaptation of the opera Bastien and Bastienne premiered at the National Theater of the Republic of Srpska, directed by I. Tešić and conducted by B. Radošević Mitrović in October 2022. Ćulum wrote the play Endorsers premiered at the Bosnian National Theatre In March 2021 and directed by M. Bahonjić. Also, the Endorsers were premiered in the National Theater of the Republika Srpska in February 2013, and directed by Ž. Stjepanović and A. Pejaković. Ćulum’s play Not All of Us Are Flyers was directed by I. Tešić, and premiered at the Children's Theater of the Republic of Srpska in February 2018. He wrote the adaptation of the operetta Orpheus in the Underworld, which was premiered at the National Theater of the Republic of Srpska, directed by G. Damjanac, and conducted by B. Radošević Mitrović in March 2014. Ćulum’s radio drama Birthday, directed by M. Ovčina, was also recorded for BH Radio 1 and Radio Belgrade 2 in 2006. He co-wrote the documentary film Breath of Life, directed by S. Brezo, and produced by Balans and RTRS in 2013. The film received the Best Film award at the Fingal Film Festival in Dublin in September 2014. Mario Ćulum is one of the screenwriters for the TV series Feliks (Episode 6) and the TV series Almost Life (Episodes 1-12), directed by M. Đukić and produced by AEON and RTRS. Ćulum won the first prize in the first Public Competition of the Audio-Visual Center of the Republika Srpska for the development of a feature film screenplay. He is employed as an Associate Professor at the Academy of Arts, University of Banja Luka.
