The Interaction project is the result of cooperation, exchange and dialogue on ideas and issues of contemporary art with the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Arts in Belgrade. This project has been continuously implemented by the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade since 2016. From 2021, the Academy of Arts of the University of Banja Luka with the Center for Visual Arts joins the project. In this way, the project becomes significant in the international context and is the only one of its kind in the region. The exhibition and curatorial workshops are led and selected by mentors together with the curators of the most important institutions for the promotion and presentation of visual art, namely the Museum of Contemporary Art of the RS and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade. From 2022, the Banski Dvor Cultural Center joined the realization of the project.

The exhibition Interaction connects final year students of the Faculty of Fine Arts from Belgrade, the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade and the Academy of Arts from Banja Luka on a joint artistic and curatorial project. Expressing themselves through different techniques and media, young artists and art historians express their views of the present, its various forms, phenomena and tendencies. As a result of this process, a joint exhibition and curatorial workshop is created every year in Banja Luka – in the Gallery Plus of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the RS, the Stone House and the Glasshouse of the Banski Dvor Cultural Center in October and the Salon of the Belgrade City Museum in December.

The aim of the Interaction project is generational networking of students, future artists and young art historians, from all three faculties/academies from the region, so that they can take the initiative in professional development and organization of future joint projects more easily. Through this project, students become familiar with all the elements and factors of contemporary artistic production and exhibition practice, gain experience in the realization of team projects, gain experience working in a real environment, as well as knowledge about the structures and function of artistic production. The end result of the project is the setting of the exhibition, connecting with other professionals from the artistic fields, raising the quality of the conditions for the presentation of contemporary artistic creativity and encouraging peer education. The project is realized through carefully designed phases of research and practical work of students under the mentorship of lecturers and artists in the field of contemporary creativity (visual art and art theory) and work with experienced curators and art historians.

In this way, the most successful final year students and young artists who have just graduated from academies, faculties of art and history of art get to know each other, connect directly with cultural institutions and thus open up opportunities for artistic practice and familiarization with models of artistic activity that cannot be studied at academy/faculty, which are necessary in order for their successful and specific generational practice to continue, reach its peak and be presented to the professional and general public. This approach allows young creators to access the cultural system on time and master professional artistic practices, which will enable them to use the best ways of working in their cultural environments, from which those cultural environments and the entire community benefit the most.
